Found my Favourite Toothpaste! Mar 27, 2010
By Quorrah I cannot find this toothpaste locally anymore so I order it at amazon.com. Great flavour, great quality! This is the only toothpaste that keeps my mouth fresh with shiny-white teeth. Hopefully, I can continue to find it @ amazon, decently priced.

This one has the pump Jan 07, 2012

We Mentadent fans primarily choose this brand because of the form factor, i.e., the convenience of dispensing toothpaste (and closing it again!) with just one hand so the other hand is free to, say, hold a toothbrush. The toothpaste itself is first-rate, on par with the big name brands and available in the same varieties (whitening, baking soda, etc.) but not measurably better.
To get started, you must purchase an Mentadent starter item like this one. It has everything you need and will last quite a while. Then you can keep the pump base and move into the world of buying only refills. I've done this for years, and only bought this starter pump-plus-toothpaste so my teenage daughter would have her own. I think it was her favorite Christmas present, but she is a bit strange. More likely, I don't really understand teenage girls.
Mentadent comes in two pouches and requires both halves working together to clean teeth properly. The halves cannot be combined until ready to use, which is why the base pumps paste onto your toothbrush from two openings under the one small lid. Epoxy and resin adhesives have worked this way forever. Now it's baking soda and peroxide. When you pump toothpaste for the very first time, the goo might squirt out from only one side briefly until the other side catches up. This is normal, so don't even think of brushing your teeth with only half of the formula. Just discard any initial one-sided goo and move on.
