This Product Could Have Been Great . . . Aug 20, 2007 Colgate falls into the trap with this product that almost every company who produces shave cream in pressurized cans does: too much annoying, phoney fragrance and too little menthol. Colgate should formulate this Arctic Cool Shave more like that of similar products from Malin + Goetz, Keihl's, and HeadBlade -- that is, very little perfumey fragrance and lots of methol oil for an icy cold feeling while shaving and afterward.
The only good menthol shave in a pressurized can in the US was from Noxzema, but sadly their menthol shave cream was discontinued in the US market in 1997/98 (only available in the UK and Italy now). That left a significant place for a useful product from Colgate and Barbasol, yet they've only given us shave creams that pretend to be a real menthol shave. Again, too much headache-inducing perfume and not enough cooling effect.
Instead of Colgate, try Malin + Goetz Vitamin E & Menthol in the tube (it's not a pressurized can). Fine, smooth, soothing, icy-cold shave!
