These applicators are much sturdier than what appears in the pictures that advertise them and may last longer than expected. I have only used them one time so far to apply polish to a pair of cowboy boots and I think they will last for many more applications of polish. They do a fine job of applying the polish, and do not absorb the polish into the applicator so as to waste the polish, but keeps it locally on the applicator's surface where it needs to be kept.
