Skin Irritation Warning Feb 01, 2010
By Justin Case I have used the Mitchum brand since 1983, after I moved to the Eastern U.S. and found out how useless most deodorants are in high-humidity conditions. Mitchum was the only product I found that worked.
It is regrettable that Mitchum chose to change the active ingredient. Perhaps they changed it several times since 1983, but the most recent change came to my attention when a new container left my armpits raw after 2 or 3 uses.
I hadn't thrown the old container out, so I compared labels. I can do so again now for you because I have hung onto that old container, as well as the unusable newer one. Whence, OLD ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly 20% NEW ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Aluminum Sesquichlorohydrate 25%
Now I am unable to use either the roll-on or gel Mitchum products. Thanks, Mitchum, for taking a perfect product and ruining it.

Mitchum isn't what it used to be Sep 22, 2011
By Fast Eddie A few days ago, after not being able to find Mitchum scented roll on in local stores I bought some Mitchum unscented and I noticed the main ingredient had changed to Aluminum Sesquichlorohydrate 25%. I don't normally read the ingredients, but things are not normal when they stop selling the deodorant I've been buying for more than 20 years. I also noticed that what was left of my regular scented bottle has the new formula as well. I've been getting underarm redness and irritation for more than a year. I hadn't really thought about why this is happening, but now I know. I am now going to also try Secret or Gillette Clinical strength, although I'm sure I won't like the scent as well as Mitchum. Both of those have Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly 20% (Mitchum's former ingredient), and I think that works better than the new ingredient in Mitchum anyway, and the best part is that it won't cause redness and irritation like Mitchum does.

Buyer Beware Oct 31, 2011
By Beth G See other comments regarding change in active ingredient. I have used Mitchum scented roll-on deoderant for over 20 years and now, with the new active ingredient, my skin becomes irritated, the deoderant takes a long time to dry and it is sticky.

best anti-perspirant there is Oct 26, 2007
By C. Lindsey My parents have used Mitchum forever. I have used it forever. I tried the Certain-Dri, which you can't use right after you shower or shave, and so I would forget to put it on. This is gentle, non-staining, and best of all, does what it says it will do: Keep you dry and fresh all day, and then some! I have set it up on auto-ship, and that is one less thing for me to think about!
